Deeply concerned about the lack of motivation for practicing both innovation and engineering design among youth, he has been instrumental in initiating several technology competitions in the country the well known one being Yantriki a Robotics competition for students, presently part of the IIT Technology festival Techfest. He was the Chairman of the Technopreneurship Program (TePP now redesignated as PRISM) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the foremost Government of India program on Innovation. He was a member of the editorial Board of International Journal of Innovation Science published from UK.
